December Nights is my favorite event in San Diego, where the town comes together and celebrates holidays and traditions from around the world. In the spirit of the holidays, participating Balboa Park museums open their doors free of charge from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. both evenings. This is the largest free community festival in San Diego and is expected to attract more than 300,000 visitors over two days.
There will be tons of entertainment for the whole family. Check out the new family zone with kid friendly entertainment and the first time we get to enjoy Ice Skating in the Park! Yay for skating! The International Cottage Christmas Festival features authentic music, crafts, dance and other holiday traditions from more than 30 countries. A highlight of the Christmas Festival are food samplings from around the world. Traditional holiday dance, music and costumes can be seen on the half-hour at the Cottage Stage. You can also enjoy musical and dance presentations from the San Diego Junior Theatre, San Diego Civic Youth Ballet, and San Diego Civic Dance.
Come enjoy the lights, friends, and holiday season in Balboa Park. So pack up the family and head over to the park. We’ll see you there!
