About Toys for Tots

The mission of the United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys from October through December and then distribute those toys to needy children in the community as Christmas presents.  The toys are collected by Reserve Marines at various community and civic functions, sorted according to age and gender, and then are distributed to local social and welfare agencies, churches, and civic organizations. In 2007, the Toys for Tots program in the San Diego area collected 185,000 toys reaching over 55,000 children.

This year, the Marine Corps Reserves has set a goal of collecting over 231,000 toys and to reach over 75,000 needy children in the San Diego community.

While the Marine Reserves organize, coordinate, and manage the program, the ultimate success depends on the support of the local community and the generosity of the people who donate toys.  This year in the San Diego area, the Marine Reserves have coordinated various civic events to support the Toys for Tots program.

New, unwrapped toys may be dropped off at any Toys for Tots collection box or may be brought to the events listed below.  Furthermore, financial donations may be made to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation

Thank you for your support of the Marine Reserves Toys for Tots program and have a wonderful holiday season.

On a personal note, I hope everyone had a good weekend. I spent mine in Palm Springs celebrating some family birthdays. My Aunt turned 25 (according to her) and my Grandpa turned 87. It was so nice to spend an afternoon with the fam. At night we went to the wedding of Rene Dell’Aqua and Joe Fleishcaker. They are such a beautiful couple and they seem truly happy. Rene has been a family friend for about 11 years and she has been like a second Mom to me. She has done many things throughout her life including developing a successful business in dentistry in Palm Desert, becoming Mrs. California and creating a reputation as the best karaoke singer in the Coachella Valley! 😉
The ceremony was held at the Denise Roberge Art Gallery and was intimate and extravagant… everything I would expect. It was an evening wedding and was cocktail to formal attire so my sister, mom and I got to dress up! (wish you could see my shoes, they were gold and awesome!)
Sarah and I with the beautiful bride. I’m so glad I got to share this event with them.  Congratulations Joe and Rene!
